What is a Waqf?

A Waqf (plural: Awqaf) is a lasting Islamic endowment where assets like property, farms, or businesses are bought or invested in. The income from these assets (rent, profits, etc.) is continuously used for charitable or religious causes. As one of the purest forms of Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity), it provides rewards even after the donor passes away.
